Ohio Beef Expo

Attached are the final health requirements for the 2014 Ohio Beef Expo.  They will also be available on the website at www.ohiobeefexpo.com. They reflect the new ID requirements for Expo sale cattle for 2014. ID requirements are:

All Expo cattle consigned to breed sales (in-state and out-of-state) will be required to have 840 RFID tags in their ears prior to arrival at the Ohio Beef Expo.

All Expo cattle participating in breed shows or displaying are strongly encouraged to have 840 RFID tags in their ears prior to arrival at the Ohio Beef Expo.  All out-of-state Expo cattle participating in breed shows or displaying must have official identification according to the USDA Animal Disease Traceability (ADT) rule. Tattoos matching registrations will be accepted for out-of-state show and display cattle only.

To purchase RFID tags, you must first have a premise ID number.  If you do not already have one, access your state veterinarian’s website/office to register for a premise number.

For Ohio residents go to http://www.agri.ohio.gov/divs/animalid/animalid.aspx to register for a premise number.

Tags can be purchased (with your unique premise ID number) through breed associations, animal health supply companies and livestock marketing entities.
